Sea-Tac Center looks forward to reopening in time for Christmas

Following a three-month renovation, the USO center at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is expected to open its doors once again in mid-December, just in time to welcome service members and dependents who are transiting through the area over the Christmas holiday.

The center was temporarily relocated when the project began on August 9, moving its operations to the cruise ship waiting area, located on the first floor of the parking garage. With limited services due to the move, center manager Matthew Sult is excited to be back in the original location, where volunteers and staff members can better accommodate the military community.

“When you have almost 150,000 guests annually, every USO Center like our Sea-Tac Center can use a periodic refresher. After almost six years of welcoming all guests on a 24/7 basis, we made the conscientious decision during our security upgrade to replace old carpet with beautiful tile planks, refresh the paint throughout the center, improve the lighting, and enhance our entryway. This upgrade will ensure we remain a welcoming and safe center as we enter 2022,” said Don Leingang, USO Northwest Executive Director.

The renovation includes replacement of flooring in several areas, security improvements to the entryway and reception area, as well as additional upgrades. The security improvements will allow for a more controlled entry of guests into the center.

The center is also in need of volunteers to help with numerous tasks each day. Learn more about how to become a volunteer by clicking here. Those wishing to donate to USO Northwest may do so at the following link: donate here.
