Jermaine Kearse Programs
USO Northwest Jermaine Kearse Programs aim to engage Gold Star Youth in fun, engaging and empowering educational experiences to help to ignite their passion and interests.
USO-NW Jermaine Kearse Programs provide experiences for Gold Star Youth in three key areas:
Local Events: Connects Gold Star Youth from around Washington state in local activities. Gold Star Youth participate in the Russell Wilson Passing Academy, Lucky Strike Lanes bowling, Seattle Great Wheel, Wings Over Washington at Miners Landing, day camps and more.
Mentorship: Supports the wear blue Gold Star Youth Program. A two-month mentorship and endurance training program for Gold Star Youth where active-duty service members are paired with a Gold Star Youth (ranging in age from 6 to 16 years old) for a nine-week training plan with nine weekly runs culminating in a special Memorial Day Weekend run.
Experiences: Provides scholarships for Gold Star Youth to participate in travel experiences with EF Educational Tours. Gold Star Youth (middle & high school age) explore our nation’s capital on a 1-week trip to Washington DC. Here they have the opportunity to connect with our nation’s history and culture by taking in the museums, monuments, military memorials and so much more.
Gold Star Youth participated in the Wilderness International Leadership Development (WILD) Course. WILD is an alternative Spring Break opportunity to explore Washington’s Cascade Mountain Range. Gold Star Youth participate in outdoor leadership training and development classes, and take a Wilderness First Aid course to receive their WFA certification. WILD is offered in partnership with Growth International Volunteer Excursions (GIVE).
GIVE also offers a one-of-a kind volunteer abroad program that makes a lasting difference in this world. International service travel to empower communities and experience new cultures.
