Volunteers from AT&T and USO Northwest Assemble Care Packages for Active-Duty Soldiers from Seattle Area

AT&T and AT&T Veterans contribute $12,500 to USO Northwest

REDMOND, WA, June 15, 2022 — Dozens of volunteers from AT&T and USO Northwest assembled more than 250 care packages that will be delivered to Seattle area soldiers currently deployed to active duty. AT&T and AT&T Veterans also announced a $12,500 contribution to further USO Northwest’s efforts to support local service members and their families.

“We are grateful for the tremendous support from AT&T”, stated Don Leingang, Executive Director, USO Northwest and Commander, U.S. Navy (retired). “Without their caring leadership, we would not be able to provide these care packages, which symbolize a “touch of home” for our military as they leave the Pacific Northwest.”

Leingang noted that the Seattle Mariners and Quality Food Centers also provided items for these care packages.

Each care package consisted of a backpack stuffed full of snacks and other supplies. Handwritten notes placed in each backpack provide encouraging words of support and serve as a reminder to deployed soldiers that many back in their home communities wish them well and are grateful for their service.

“With over 12,000 military veterans employed at AT&T, we value our veterans here,” said Lauren Paolini, Area Manager for External Affairs at AT&T Washington and a volunteer with AT&T Veterans employee resource group. “We are proud to support and collaborate with USO Northwest, as they in turn support military service members and their families.”

The USO Northwest supports America’s military service members and their families throughout the states of Washington and Oregon. With the help of more than 400 volunteers, USO Northwest serves over 800,000 military and their families annually. USO Northwest provides support to those who need it the most including military deploying overseas and returning home, military families, wounded warriors and their families and families of the fallen.

The $12,500 contribution from AT&T and AT&T Veterans is part of AT&T’s philanthropic giving efforts to support our local communities. We invest our company’s resources and knowledge to advance access to education and training, improve lives, and strengthen the communities in which we live and work.
