Mobile Outreach program visits Coast Guard Surf Station Quillayute River
No place is too remote for our USO Northwest mobile outreach program. Take the Coast Guard Surf Station Quillayute River, for example. Located in the small coastal town of La Push, Wahington, twenty eight “coasties” stand ready to answer the call from ships in trouble. Two crews of fourteen alternately staff the station on watch twenty-four hours a day seven days a week.
This very remote surf station had never had an onsite visit from the USO. Responding to a request for a new gaming system to replace one that was ten years old, Northwest Mobile not only delivered the requested gaming system, but it also provided an opportunity for the crew to enjoy a BBQ dinner and a Halloween costume contest. As you can tell from the smiles, a fun time was had by all.
This remote Coast Guard station will continue to receive visits from our mobile team as we seek to fulfill our USO mission to strengthen the well-being of the people serving in America’s military and their families!
