The USO Shali Center delivers USO’s “best in class” service to more than 50,000 military service members and their families every year. As a result, the center needed renovating — not from abuse — but from use. The USO Shali Center has served more than 300,000 service members and their families since the last center update seven years ago.
Of these 300,000, over one-third of these guests are at the USO Shali Center getting ready to deploy overseas. The USO Shali Center volunteers provide that last touch of home for the final four hours our military members are on American soil. In order to give our military the best experience possible, the USO-NW proposed a cosmetic “refresh” of the USO Shali Center—no walls moved or need for electrical rework — but updates that would enhance USO’s service delivery of programs and services.
We would like to thank The Windows of Hope Foundation, The Ben B. Cheney Foundation, La-Z-Boy of Seattle and Sound Kitchen & Bath for their support of this critical project. With these upgrades, the USO Northwest and its volunteers will continue to provide USO’s legendary best-in-class hospitality to the next 300,000 military and their families to deploy and/or travel through McChord Air Field.
