Camp Lewis Center hosts Thanks for your Service Dinners
The USO Camp Lewis Center, conveniently located in the heart of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, hosts monthly “Thanks for your Service” meals. Typically scheduled for the last Wednesday each month, the Camp Lewis Center serves a hearty meal that delights Soldiers, Airmen and their families. During the Winter months, the meal is hosted inside the Center in our Cafe area, where Guests can enjoy a feast that might include Spaghetti with Meat Sauce, fresh Garden Salad and Garlic Toast. During the Summer months, we setup our picnic tables and grill and take the party outside in the America’s Credit Union parking lot where we serve grilled Cheeseburgers or possibly Chili Cheese Hotdogs. You can easily expect to see 200 - 300 hungry troops served at one of our Cookouts.
You might ask, “Where does the USO receive funding for such a feast?” Each Fall, the USO Northwest hosts a large fundraising Gala. One of the most popular items offered during the Live Auction is to purchase a “Thanks for your Service” meal. Gala attendees are quick to raise the bidding paddles to purchase these special meals. Generous sponsors that win the Bid are invited to attend the meal that they purchased and witness, firsthand, the joy and impact that they are making in the well-being of America’s Finest.
For more information about attending the USO Northwest Gala and becoming a “Thanks for your Service” sponsor, contact our Executive Director, Don Leingang at [dleingang@uso.org] or Camp Lewis Manager, David Dutcher [ddutcher@uso.org].
